If tears would stream down your face today, they should tears of gratitude- borne by deep appreciation of the immeasurably valuable sacrifice that our darling saviour made on our behalf. He did it for us, not himself.

The scorns. The thorns. The blood. The water. The nails. The jeers. Everything…….he took all for us! What we would have not survived in torture, he went through so that we might not go through it. He eventually died so that we might live forever.

We should say ‘Thank God Jesus died, arose and lives forevermore.’ That should be our chant! Our chorus!

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.’ John 3:16 (NLT)

That was the father’s plan, and Jesus’ death was a part of it, a fulfilment of the father’s intent. What would have been our fate if Jesus hadn’t die? What would have been the basis of our faith if he hadn’t risen on the third day?

Love should be celebrated, not mourned, because Love is good, pure and perfect. Love was the saviour’s intent, a reason therefore to celebrate his death, and not be sorrowful!

‘Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.’ John 15:13 (NIV)

We are his friends and he did what was best for us, he did what he had to do so that we might get the eternal life as promised by the father upon believing in him. His death brought us life, his death was good for us!

Before the Lord left, he said this:

“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.’ John 14:1-3 (NLT)

As he has promised, so will he do. Let us therefore live in the hope that our darling saviour, who was nailed to the cross on this day some millennia and some years ago, is coming back to take us to the home where we will live the eternal life that God has promised we that believe in his son.

If he hadn’t die, we would be dead; he died and arose and so are we alive for evermore as he is! His death was good for us!

Tell someone this good news today and always remember that the best way to honour and appreciate this sacrifice of his is to live the life that he has commanded us to live- a life of love and obedience to his words.

Stay in Christ, stay alive!

The worshiper: Be a true one

The true worshiper- that human being that worships the father from the heart and not from the head; that being whose entire life is an offering of worship unto God! Are you a worshiper?

‘But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.’  John 4:23 (NLT)

Worship goes beyond singing. It is a lifestyle, one that is made of various activities that can all be rolled into one huge act of worship to the Almighty God. Everything a true worshiper does is in the consciousness of the sovereignty of God. This reverence for God governs the way that he or she lives. A true worshipper is led by the spirit of God, thus endorsed as a child of God (Romans 8:14).

A true worshiper knows God,what pleases him, and does it. A true worshiper doesn’t follow God for material benefits. Even in times of utmost need, he or she follows and worships God for who God is. All material gains that others crown principal are simply add-ons for a worshiper! (Matthew 6:33) Are you a true worshiper?

A true worshiper worships from the heart- sincere, raw, honest, non-superficially. He or she doesn’t worship from the head, does not analyse what the song that will impress the crowd the most is. No! A true worshiper channels that one song to the one to whom all praise is due. A true worshiper is not ashamed to express joy and excitement, be it through dance or screams, in the presence of the great king. Clothes and jewelry don’t take first place on a true worshiper’s priority list, a sincere heart, clean hands and a holy life matters more!

A true worshiper worships in faith-he or she can’t see God,yet rejoices greatly in the fact  that God sees and hears the worship being rendered. A true worshiper’s life is in God’s hands- whether good or bad, plenty or not, the worship goes on because God takes first place always!

Are you a true worshiper?

Paul has given this advice:

‘And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.’ Romans 12:1 (NLT)

Will you heed Paul’s advice? Please do.

God is looking for those worshipers who will worship him truly; who will worship him in spirit; those whose daily lives will be a continuous stream of honest and pure worship.

You can and should be a true worshipper!

Please encourage others to be true worshippers by sharing this with them.

No turning back!

A letter to the redeemed,

Friend, please don’t practise seasonal followership of Christ. Be a full-time Christian. Whether good or bad, happy or sad, abundance or scarcity, whatever might pop up on the horizon, stay faithful to Christ Jesus. He gave his all for you, you should give your all to him as well.

‘At this point many of his disciples turned away and deserted him.’ John 6:66 (NLT)

At what points do you turn your back to the cross too? At what point do you take the garment of righteousness off and adorn the robes of worldliness? At what point is compromise excusable to you? Beloved, AT NO POINT should you forsake the love of Christ. At no point should you roll in the pit of sin. Let your motto be ‘HAPPILY A CHRISTIAN ANYWHERE,ANY TIME’. Never discard that trademark because it is your passport to eternal life.

Sometimes, the going gets rough, the weather could get stormy. Always remember that the Lord didn’t promise us funfare all the way home, because even he had challenges while on earth. But he has spoken here in John 16:33(NLT):

”I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

So friend, just hold on to the peace in Christ when those troubles come up and it seems as if a new dawn won’t break. Victory is surely ours at the end of the day because Jesus Christ has said that he has overcome the world and you know that his word is true. Also, believe God, the wait, the endurance and all that we go through while on earth will all be worth it when finally we get home and receive our rewards from the father. To buttress this, see what the Apostle Paul said here:

‘Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.’
Romans 8:18 (NLT)
My dear, please hold on. Never turn back. It will all be worth it in the end when our saviour we see. Some of those you call friends or even family, may be despising you for your faithfulness to Christ at the moment, hold on. You may be experiencing persecution and rejection in the course of your walk with the saviour at the moment, hold on. You are special. You are chosen. You are a co-heir with Christ.

‘Christ is enough’, a song by Hillsong United has some parts of its lyrics that go thus: ‘The cross before me, the world behind me, no turning back.’ Please live this statement and hold on to the end. Don’t turn back, you are on the right path.

I love you and Jesus loves you more.

A co-sojourner on the way to heaven.

If we could exhaustively comprehend the depth of the love of Christ for us,we would know much more how wonderful, beautiful and forgiving our darling saviour is. There is no hatred whatsoever in him towards us. What he detests is sin,not us. And once sin is off the scene,we’d be able to begin to comprehend how great his love for us is. He left heaven and all the majesty of his throne and came to earth to pay the ultimate price for our sins. Humility was and is still so clearly personified in our role model,Jesus Christ, who chose to serve and save. We couldn’t help ourselves so he came to be our salvation and even now,he still is . He took the pains, the shame and paid off all our debts of sin. Nothing can ever get us the righteousness that Jesus has brought us. Hallelujah!

There is no wickedness in him. He is full of endless love. A major theme of his ministry was and will always be love because he is love himself. He doesn’t want anyone to perish. He is always there, waiting to be allowed in(Revelation 3:20). How glorious!

Romans 8:35-38 contains an amazing and interesting description of the love of Christ for us. A love that made him lay down his life to save us,his friends(Matthew 15:13). That love will never end,as long as we stay true and faithful to him. Even when we err,he does not stop loving us,he loves us still. We only need to retrace our steps in repentance so that we might not lose the life that we have in him.

My friend, always remember that no matter what may be,the love of Christ for us is greater than we know. So continue in him and never stop loving him for loving us first.

I’m writing this short poem to him in appreciation, you could leave yours below too in gratitude.

Mighty and royal,

to the cause of redemption, you were loyal

battered and bruised

to saving me,you remained true

No treasure could buy

what you paid for with your life

And in all of eternity

none could surpass you in humility

You are my all!

Obedience: Remaining in his love.

”When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandment and remain in his love.” John 15:10(NLT)

As seen in 1 John 2:15, a fact can be established that if one loves the world, then the love of the father is not in one. That is, persisting in iniquity and loving the sinful path that  the yet-to-be-saved folks tread portrays one as not having the love of the father in one. You are either with God or out there with the sinful throng. And it’s best that you rather love God and shun the corrupt practices of those yet-to-be-saved.

If you’ve ever wondered how one can be sure of remaining  in the love of Christ, right there in John 15:10, you have the answer! Complete and consistent obedience to the commandments of Christ confirms that you’re still in his love. A sure way of knowing what the commandments of Christ is by studying his words as contained in the Bible after which one should commit the words to heart and obey the Lord as he instructs and has instructed.  Any seeming deviation from his commandments should be  promptly addressed through genuine repentance. Remaining in the love of Christ guarantees eternal life because whomever completely believes in Christ will obey Christ and whomever completely obeys Christ belongs to him and whomever belongs to Christ has eternal life in him. So,my dear, do all you can to remain in the love of Christ. Hold on tightly to the faith you have in him and always remember and be grateful that his grace is available to you, as a believer.

I pray that may we all remain in the love of Christ even until he comes to take us home to live with him and behold him with our eyes forever in his mighty name. Amen.

Service or Showmanship?

Service to God is not showmanship. Like it reads,it is SERVICE!
If you have the talent to sing, teach or occupy any position of leadership in service to the almighty, you should operate at a very high level of humility and love. Pride should not beset you because you’re not indispensable. You’re rather privileged to be who you are and you should be grateful for it!
If you ever think that you’re one and only and thus irreplaceable, the truth is there is someone out there who is better than you or has the potential to be better than you in service to God.
God has men and women programmed for service, you’re just privileged to be one of them and should you get too big for your purpose, there is always going to be another to take your place!
As for your talent,God ultimately owns them. And someday, you will give account of how they were used. In John 3:27(NLT), John said ‘No one can receive anything unless God gives it from heaven’. So the talents come from heaven, you do not own them,God does.
And as for accounts, you shall be rewarded according to your deeds as the Lord says in Revelation 22:12(NLT) ‘Look, I’m coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds’
So friend, what’s your deed in God’s service: a show or true service?

He makes all things new!

‘This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!’ 2 Corinthians 5:17(NLT)

What an awesome God we have! The God of new beginnings! The alpha and omega! The God of hope!

There is hope for you! No matter how terribly you’ve messed up in the past, you need to know that redemption is not beyond your reach if you come back to God with a repentant heart and tenacious determination to turn a new leaf.

God’s grace is freely given. A product of his love towards mankind. A grace not based on the merit of a person’s righteousness. It is an extension of his amazing love.

What you have to do is come to him. Say you are sorry and mean it! Pray to him for forgiveness and the enablement to live a new life in him. Remember,he doesn’t regard your past.He is interested in your present repentance and the brilliant future that awaits you as a new person. That life that you think is messed up, can be replaced in him. That future that you think has been ruptured can be wholly replaced by another future most bright and beautiful! This is real! Just believe and come to the Lord as you are, with a repentant heart and faith in him.

God is the alpha and omega;the beginning and the end. He can always give you a new beginning if you come with a repentant heart and determination to change for good.

Yes!He makes all things new!

Always be in check.

‘A person without self-control is like a city with broken-down walls.’  Proverbs 25:26(NLT)

There is a high level of composure and self-control expected of you as a christian. Anything short of this high level is dishonourable.

My friend,as a christian, you should be a great example for others to follow. As the Lord said in Matthew 5:26, you should let your good works shine before men that they may give glory to your father in heaven. The more of a good and commendable example you are to people in shining the light of Christ, the more the glory you bring to your father in heaven through your lifestyle.

As part of your good works, please take SELF-CONTROL very seriously. Without self-control,one is open to the attack of the enemy. This attack could be in form of ridicule, physical assault or even mortal death. No matter where you find yourself, whatever the situation might be,never be out of check.

Let the Holy spirit be your guide. Being in tune with his leading and wholesome obedience to his instructions will help you make the right decisions and stay in control of your emotions in your relationship with people. Never let your reaction be based on what others do to you. People could provoke you intentionally, do not be hasty to react. You are are a  heir of the heavenly King,do not let the flesh dictate your response.Rather, base your reactions on the instructions in the Bible-the words of God. The more you base your reactions on God’s instructions, the less the tendency of you being out of control of your emotions in your relationship with people.

So friend,be in check, stay in Christ and stay blessed.

How was your day?

When your enemies fall………

‘Don’t rejoice when your enemies fall; don’t be happy when they stumble. For the Lord will be displeased with you and will turn his anger away from them.’ Proverbs 24:17-18(NLT)

My friend,if you never knew this before, now you know!As a child of God,you should never rejoice at your enemies’ fall.Don’t be secretly vengeful by being happy when evil things happen to them. Whatever might be happening to them, make God your central focus. Pray for those who persecute you and love your enemies,as the Lord Jesus Christ has instructed in Matthew 5:44.

To be able to do this, you have to be a person of the spirit. A worshiper of the living God who worships in spirit and in truth. Walking in the spirit will enable you to be in the right frame of mind to heed the Lord’s instructions and live a successful life.

Do not displease God by rejoicing at your enemy’s fall because displeasing him might ultimately put you at the risk of perdition,if you do not repent.

May your lifestyle continue to  bring the Lord pleasure in Jesus name.
