Bookshelf: Two great books for you!

In Christianity, there is so much to learn- how to pray effectively, principles of faith, etc. Fortunately, the Holy Spirit is available as a standby teacher for believers who will yield to Him! A believer who is hungry for knowledge can be ‘fed’ via the Bible, videos and audio clips of teachings, and BOOKS! Yes, books! That is the focus of this column called ‘BookShelf’! In it, I look forward to recommending great Christian literature to you!

The benefits of reading good books cannot be overstated! Fortunately, there are many very good books that are quite affordable! So, regardless of your budget, you can still get great value from books at low cost! Also, you can get these books either in the digital formats or print, depending on your preference! It’s time to meet our first set of books!

I will be recommending two great books which are written by the same author –Pastor (Dr) David Yonggi Cho.

‘David Yonggi Cho is co-founder and pastor of Yoido, considered the largest and fastest growing congregation in the world.’ (Source: charismanews.com)

The first is ‘The Holy Spirit My Senior Partner’: In this book, you will learn about who the Holy Spirit is and how you can make Him your partner in daily Christian living. Pastor Cho shared extensive knowledge on topics such as ‘The Holy Spirit and believers’ and ‘The baptism of the Holy Spirit’! If you are someone who is thirsty for knowledge about the Holy Spirit, you will be glad you read it!

The second is ‘The fourth dimension’: Amazing book! In it, you will get to understand the importance and influence of your spiritual nature; how to use your God-given authority; how to reap the dividends of faith and how to overcome the barriers to experiencing the supernatural. This is a bestseller any day! I recommend it with great excitement!

A LOVE SO DEEP

If we could exhaustively comprehend the depth of the love of Christ for us,we would know much more how wonderful, beautiful and forgiving our darling saviour is. There is no hatred whatsoever in him towards us. What he detests is sin,not us. And once sin is off the scene,we’d be able to begin to comprehend how great his love for us is. He left heaven and all the majesty of his throne and came to earth to pay the ultimate price for our sins. Humility was and is still so clearly personified in our role model,Jesus Christ, who chose to serve and save. We couldn’t help ourselves so he came to be our salvation and even now,he still is . He took the pains, the shame and paid off all our debts of sin. Nothing can ever get us the righteousness that Jesus has brought us. Hallelujah!

There is no wickedness in him. He is full of endless love. A major theme of his ministry was and will always be love because he is love himself. He doesn’t want anyone to perish. He is always there, waiting to be allowed in(Revelation 3:20). How glorious!

Romans 8:35-38 contains an amazing and interesting description of the love of Christ for us. A love that made him lay down his life to save us,his friends(Matthew 15:13). That love will never end,as long as we stay true and faithful to him. Even when we err,he does not stop loving us,he loves us still. We only need to retrace our steps in repentance so that we might not lose the life that we have in him.

My friend, always remember that no matter what may be,the love of Christ for us is greater than we know. So continue in him and never stop loving him for loving us first.

I’m writing this short poem to him in appreciation, you could leave yours below too in gratitude.

Mighty and royal,

to the cause of redemption, you were loyal

battered and bruised

to saving me,you remained true

No treasure could buy

what you paid for with your life

And in all of eternity

none could surpass you in humility

You are my all!

Service or Showmanship?

Service to God is not showmanship. Like it reads,it is SERVICE!
If you have the talent to sing, teach or occupy any position of leadership in service to the almighty, you should operate at a very high level of humility and love. Pride should not beset you because you’re not indispensable. You’re rather privileged to be who you are and you should be grateful for it!
If you ever think that you’re one and only and thus irreplaceable, the truth is there is someone out there who is better than you or has the potential to be better than you in service to God.
God has men and women programmed for service, you’re just privileged to be one of them and should you get too big for your purpose, there is always going to be another to take your place!
As for your talent,God ultimately owns them. And someday, you will give account of how they were used. In John 3:27(NLT), John said ‘No one can receive anything unless God gives it from heaven’. So the talents come from heaven, you do not own them,God does.
And as for accounts, you shall be rewarded according to your deeds as the Lord says in Revelation 22:12(NLT) ‘Look, I’m coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds’
So friend, what’s your deed in God’s service: a show or true service?

FINISHING WELL

It is important for you to finish well,my friend. Starting well is good, but finishing well is the best.

‘Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! 1 Corinthians 9:24(NLT)

You are on a sojourn through this world with heaven being the ultimate destination as a Christian. Nothing should be strong enough to take you off-course because he who dwells in you is greater than he who dwells in the world. Everything you need to succeed on your sojourn is in God,all you have to do is to make him your centre of focus. Pray to him for strength when you feel tired. Always pray to him for guidance. The Lord said in John 4:14 that the water he gives becomes a fresh bubbling spring within those who drink it.It gives eternal life. So,my friend,Jesus is always there to give you strength and freshen you when you feel tired.

To succeed in a race, you need discipline. The discipline to do the right things at the right time. The discipline to prioritize rightly. Beloved, it is very crucial that you stay focused on your destination. This world is transient.Never let its glamour distract you and make you derail. No extravagance in the world can be compared to the splendour in the eternal kingdom of our father. Having a relationship with Christ is good, however, staying with him to the end is the best for you.

Run this race to eternity to win.Make up your mind to finish well. Always pray to the Lord for strength and trust him to help you.

Tomorrow is Sunday. Praise the father in church like you’ve never done before.

Stay blessed.

Don’t deny Jesus Christ.

Chosen generation, peculiar people, please, never deny Jesus Christ. Wherever, whenever, let his light be seen shining brightly in your lifestyle. Without people being told, let them be able to suppose that you are a CHRISTIAN based on the traits of holiness that they see in you.

Youths, especially, should be very careful when it comes to this crucial topic of not losing one’s identify as a christian. It’s so easy to get lost in the crowd and hop on the ride of sin, with so much distractions that now abound  in the forms of immoral music and indecent dressing. We should stand for God always. Let the light of Christ be seen in you!

Please note that denial is not only in the verbal form,it could also be attitudinal. So,whenever your attitude negates the identify of who you should be as a christian, then you are practicing attitudinal denial of Christ Jesus.

The Lord said in Matthew 10:33(NLT):”But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven.”

Never deny Jesus Christ.
