HIS DEATH WAS GOOD FOR US

Image

If tears would stream down your face today, they should tears of gratitude- borne by deep appreciation of the immeasurably valuable sacrifice that our darling saviour made on our behalf. He did it for us, not himself.

The scorns. The thorns. The blood. The water. The nails. The jeers. Everything…….he took all for us! What we would have not survived in torture, he went through so that we might not go through it. He eventually died so that we might live forever.

We should say ‘Thank God Jesus died, arose and lives forevermore.’ That should be our chant! Our chorus!

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.’ John 3:16 (NLT)

That was the father’s plan, and Jesus’ death was a part of it, a fulfilment of the father’s intent. What would have been our fate if Jesus hadn’t die? What would have been the basis of our faith if he hadn’t risen on the third day?

THANK GOD JESUS DIED AND AROSE!

Love should be celebrated, not mourned, because Love is good, pure and perfect. Love was the saviour’s intent, a reason therefore to celebrate his death, and not be sorrowful!

‘Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.’ John 15:13 (NIV)

We are his friends and he did what was best for us, he did what he had to do so that we might get the eternal life as promised by the father upon believing in him. His death brought us life, his death was good for us!

Before the Lord left, he said this:

“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.’ John 14:1-3 (NLT)

As he has promised, so will he do. Let us therefore live in the hope that our darling saviour, who was nailed to the cross on this day some millennia and some years ago, is coming back to take us to the home where we will live the eternal life that God has promised we that believe in his son.

If he hadn’t die, we would be dead; he died and arose and so are we alive for evermore as he is! His death was good for us!

Tell someone this good news today and always remember that the best way to honour and appreciate this sacrifice of his is to live the life that he has commanded us to live- a life of love and obedience to his words.

Stay in Christ, stay alive!

Look forward

Image

Happy 2014 in advance. I have no doubt that God will protect his own and see them through. For a lot of people, 2013 must have come with its highs and lows. The hits and the misses. The smiles and the tears. The plenty and the scarce. You might as well have probably made mistakes this year that you would never want to make again. Are you still living in the regrets of such mistakes? If yes, the message to you is, let them go. Put off those old memories.

See what the Apostle Paul said here: ‘No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,’ Philippians 3:13 (NLT)

As 2013 comes to a close, let go of all memories that you do not need. It is the best that you do not crossover into 2014 with the negatives. You need a positive mindset. Even if it’s looking so impossible to let go the damage seems irreversible, do not forget that Jesus makes all things new, he can always give you a fresh beginning(Reference: 2 Corinthians 5:17).

Our father does new things and I believe that 2014 is coming on with some new things for us as his children. However, we can’t expect to still carry the old and successfully accommodate the new. We need to be new at all times. The olds being referred to here are the bad memories and imperfection of the past. We must get rid of them. The Lord said here: “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the wine would burst the wineskins, and the wine and the skins would both be lost. New wine calls for new wineskins.” Mark 2:22 (NLT)

For us to fully receive those new things that the father has for us in 2014, we must not carry over the negative ‘olds’ from 2013. How then do we clear out the needless and stay new?

‘Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.’ Romans 12:2 (NLT)

‘Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stay true to the Lord. I love you and long to see you, dear friends, for you are my joy and the crown I receive for my work.’ Philippians 4:1 (NLT)

A battle is won or lost, first in the mind. We stay old or new, first in our minds. The key to staying new is to keep our minds refreshed by meditating on God’s words, believing what he says about us instead of what the physical implies, praying to him and being alert to what we think about.

If we keep our minds new, we would be able to accommodate new ideas and experience abundance like we have never known before in the coming year, to the glory of the father.

Keep looking forward, success is nigh.

Martha’s faith: Standing in the gap.

faith-road-sign-with-dramatic-clouds-and-sky

Have you ever been in the position to stand in faith on someone else’s behalf, maybe to receive a word of prophecy or take an action of faith? If you had, I hope you stood your ground against doubt and claimed victory for your loved ones concerned. If you haven’t been in such stead yet, well,be ready to act on nothing but faith whenever you find yourself standing in the gap for someone else , as this could serve as their link to open doors that were seemingly locked and breakthrough to heights that were deemed unreachable.
A woman in the Bible gave an impressive display of faith in response to the saviour’s questions. Martha. Her brother was dead and she was mourning his passing yet she didn’t argue with the Lord nor question him about the possibility of her brother’s possible resurrection. She believed wholly and eventually witnessed an unusual miracle as documented in John 11:21-44. You too could know someone passing through difficult times and then words of prophecy for breakthrough comes through for them where you are. It is best that you receive the good words on their behalf in faith, as a channel for their needed miracle and not as an hindrance by roaming in doubt.  Your faith could save them. Your faith could be a that needed channel at that moment in time. Our God is real and he rewards those who seek him diligently because they have faith in him. Be a believer. Save a life.

Stay blessed,keep believing!

Expect that miracle.

Image

As a father who loves us, God is very interested in our affairs. He has the best in stock for us as his children, much more than we will ever need. So, we can always run to him whenever we are in need of anything, even for a miracle.

Sometimes, some unfavourable things could happen that would dampen hope and make tomorrow look bleak. For instance, an unexpected bad news, loss of a job, an unprecedented fall in stocks, and a heart-breaking result from a doctor’s diagnosis could be examples of these unfavourable things. Whenever things like these occur, we should always refer to God’s words and his promises to us. He cares.

Okay. Since our father cares and he has made promises in his words, what should we do in times when storms are raging the wildest? The answer to this question is, ‘Stay expectant’. We should expect that miracle. We should expect that turnaround. We should trust God so much that we wouldn’t even imagine him forsaking us. Our trust in him should birth our expectancy. It should make us see that glimmer of hope in a father that loves us beyond how much we can ever comprehend his love. The bedrock of expectations in God is faith. Only a person who has faith in God’s ability to bless would be expecting blessings from him at every point in time. Thus, faith births expectancy.

As illustrations, let’s examine two accounts of miraculous healings from the book of Mark which have three things in common. In Mark 5:25-34, there is the story of a woman with the issue of blood for twelve years. She was in the crowd that was about Jesus as he went with Jairus to the latter’s house. She managed to get close enough to Jesus, touched him and received her healing. In Mark 10:46-52, there is the story of a blind man called Bartimaeus. He was a beggar at the road side as Jesus moved along with the crowd that followed him. He, Bartimaeus, called out for mercy and got the Lord’s attention. The Lord asked him what he wanted and he asked to see. His healing was granted him.

The first similarity with the two stories is that both persons healed by the Lord had expectations. In Mark 5:28, the woman was quoted to have done this:

‘For she thought to herself, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.” Mark 5:28 (NLT)

She was expectant. She couldn’t have been if she had no faith in Jesus. In Mark 10:47(NLT), this is written:

‘When Bartimaeus heard that Jesus of Nazareth was nearby, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
He also confidently cried to the Lord for help in anticipation of a miracle.

The second similarity is that they both received their healing. This was however based on a common factor which brings us to the third similarity in the two accounts. They were people of faith. The Lord healed them based on their faith as seen in the verses below:

‘And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace. Your suffering is over.” Mark 5:34 (NLT)

‘ And Jesus said to him, “Go, for your faith has healed you.” Instantly the man could see, and he followed Jesus down the road.’ Mark 10:52 (NLT)

Faith. Expectations. Positive Results.

Friends, let’s keep expectations in the father higher still. Let our faith in him not waver in the face of whatever storm might surface. Great is our God and if he is for us, who and what can be against us?

Keep expecting that miracle as a testimony of your faith. The Lord will not disappoint you. Forever, he is able!

Hallelujah!

Stay blessed.

Believe God first.

Image

‘And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.’ Hebrews 11:6 (NLT)

The year is running to a close and there might be some pressing needs you are looking to cover. Somebody might have advised you to pray to God and that he,God, will meet your needs. The truth is, yes, he can meet your needs but first you must believe him. Believe that he exists. Believe that he is God and that none is greater than him. Believe that he can answer your prayers. Believe that he can meet those needs of yours. Don’t pray to him like you are trying out. Don’t approach God like he is an alternative. Approach him with faith and confidence. Approach and regard him as the ultimate. God will meet the needs of his own as his name has to be honoured and to be seen as his own, you must be a person who has faith in him.(The definition of faith is in Hebrews 11:1)

One very crucial thing about your belief in God is that it must be absolute. The totality of your faith in God puts you in a position for maximum impact. To be an absolute believer, you must be somebody who has a resolution of  ‘It’s only God I trust for this, no other source do I place my hope on’.No alternative whatsoever. God must be everything to you. And being in a position for maximum impact is simply occupying a vantage position for the receipt of any blessing the Lord has for those who place their trust in him.

To my friends who believe in God already: Now,as I learned from a friend, time is in God, God is not in time, this means that God is not time-bound by your own watch to answer your prayers. As his own, he sees you and knows what you NEED and WHEN it’s best you get it. So, if you’ve asked the father for something and you are still waiting to see an answer manifest physically, I beseech you to be patient and wait on the Lord in thanksgiving. An approach of faith is to believe that you have received the answer already and that in God’s time, there will be a physical manifestation of it.

‘If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.’ John 15:7 (NIV)

So long you meet the condition in the verse above, trust him to reward you as someone who sincerely seeks him and had believed in him first.

God bless you.

Keep winning.

You will be more than fine.

donotworry-500x332

‘Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.’  Philippians 4:6 (NLT)

Christmas is almost here and you might have to entertain guests, the shopping list seems overly long and there seems to be so many other things to do. The purse is not looking fat right now and there might be this temptation to start to worry. Well, my friend, don’t. Remember who you are. Remember that the physical doesn’t dictate your happiness. Remember that your father is the wealthiest ever and he won’t let you be put to shame, his name must be honoured.

Sometimes, one could get caught in the whirlwind of worry over responsibilities and obligations especially as concerns finance. The best thing to do hence is to get out of that whirlwind as fast as one got in by referring to the word of God and his promises for his beloved. The Lord gave an in-depth exposition as concerns worry in Matthew 6:25-34. Let’s see this:

‘And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?’  Matthew 6:30 (NLT)

Let your faith speak even in the face of seeming lack. Thank God even when there seems to be the barest of hopes for a miracle. He won’t forget you. You are too important to him to be forgotten. His words here to Israel confirms his faithfulness to his beloved, which you are:

‘“Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you! See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands. Always in my mind is a picture of Jerusalem’s walls in ruins. ‘ Isaiah 49:15-16 (NLT)

So whether your needs are long-term or short-term, they will be met by God and you will be more than fine. According to Philippians 4:6, keep worry out, pray about everything, tell your father about your needs and thank him for what he has done especially from January 2013 to now. It’s been an amazing year and that you are still alive is worth thanking God for. Your Christmas will be super amazing if you center it on God. Don’t worry, be happy in anticipation of the goodness the Lord will bless you with as gifts of the season. You will be more than fine. With the Lord, yes, you will be exceedingly blessed.

Raise your gratitude and see the Lord raise your prosperity to a higher altitude.

God bless you more, merry christmas in advance.

A better tomorrow!

How time flies! 2013 is just a few days from being over. Don’t worry, those goals that couldn’t be met this year could be given a better approach and thus achieved even next year. So, start planning to introduce new strategies and avoid the mistakes you have made this year even as you stay optimistic. Friend, I want to share something very interesting with you. A reason to be excited about life and what tomorrow holds. Today doesn’t have to always determine tomorrow especially if it isn’t good. God can bring about a tomorrow that is entirely alienated from what today might have brought you. Let go of the heartbreaks and failures. With God, there is a better tomorrow!

‘For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

The same God who said this concerning Israel is still the God who is our father. He made this declaration concerning Israel, and as his beloved, believe him for the same goodness too. All the more why you should search the scriptures is to discover the various promises God has for you as his child, as someone who loves him, promises like the ones in Psalm 91:14-16. God keeps his words. If he says he will, yes he will. So if he says there is a hope and a future, yes there is! I believe that, as his beloved, I have a better tomorrow ahead regardless of what today might look like. I believe that there is an oasis beyond the vast stretch of encroached land that fills the horizon today. Friend, please resonate my optimism. For yourself. For the church. For your country. For your family. Believe that there is a better tomorrow. If you believe it in your heart, it will eventually manifest in the physical too, at the Lord’s time and according to his will.

Be careful of what you think as the Lord sees all that goes on. Do not block your blessings by negative proclamations. Always confess the positives. Your thoughts sometimes birth your words, so in other to forestall any ill utterance, it is better to ponder on the right things  in your mind. Let’s see the Lord’s response to the Israelites as an example of the importance of saying the right things:

‘So tell them, ‘As surely as I live, declares the Lord, I will do to you the very things I heard you say:’
Numbers 14:28 (NIV)

What are you saying in the ears of God today? Beloved, I believe in God for a better tomorrow, please do too. And as you believe it, begin to confess it in faith.

Think right. Speak right. There is a better tomorrow right ahead.

God bless you more.

No turning back!

A letter to the redeemed,

Friend, please don’t practise seasonal followership of Christ. Be a full-time Christian. Whether good or bad, happy or sad, abundance or scarcity, whatever might pop up on the horizon, stay faithful to Christ Jesus. He gave his all for you, you should give your all to him as well.

‘At this point many of his disciples turned away and deserted him.’ John 6:66 (NLT)

At what points do you turn your back to the cross too? At what point do you take the garment of righteousness off and adorn the robes of worldliness? At what point is compromise excusable to you? Beloved, AT NO POINT should you forsake the love of Christ. At no point should you roll in the pit of sin. Let your motto be ‘HAPPILY A CHRISTIAN ANYWHERE,ANY TIME’. Never discard that trademark because it is your passport to eternal life.

Sometimes, the going gets rough, the weather could get stormy. Always remember that the Lord didn’t promise us funfare all the way home, because even he had challenges while on earth. But he has spoken here in John 16:33(NLT):

”I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

So friend, just hold on to the peace in Christ when those troubles come up and it seems as if a new dawn won’t break. Victory is surely ours at the end of the day because Jesus Christ has said that he has overcome the world and you know that his word is true. Also, believe God, the wait, the endurance and all that we go through while on earth will all be worth it when finally we get home and receive our rewards from the father. To buttress this, see what the Apostle Paul said here:

‘Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.’
Romans 8:18 (NLT)
My dear, please hold on. Never turn back. It will all be worth it in the end when our saviour we see. Some of those you call friends or even family, may be despising you for your faithfulness to Christ at the moment, hold on. You may be experiencing persecution and rejection in the course of your walk with the saviour at the moment, hold on. You are special. You are chosen. You are a co-heir with Christ.

‘Christ is enough’, a song by Hillsong United has some parts of its lyrics that go thus: ‘The cross before me, the world behind me, no turning back.’ Please live this statement and hold on to the end. Don’t turn back, you are on the right path.

I love you and Jesus loves you more.

A co-sojourner on the way to heaven.

Believe his prophet.

Friend, never be a doubter of God’s word spoken to you through his servant. If God has said it, he will do it(Examples: 2 Kings 7:1&2, 2 Chronicles 20:14-17)

Once you are sure of the prophet’s stand with God, which can be confirmed by the Holy Spirit within you and the fruits that the prophet manifests, never doubt the message or prophecy that the prophet delivers. The Lord is not pleased whenever his children doubt him, so please don’t be an errant child. The word released could be what you need to change your season, please key into it by faith and wait patiently for the manifestation of the promise.Let’s examine the declaration in the verse below:

Early the next morning the army of Judah went out into the wilderness of Tekoa. On the way Jehoshaphat stopped and said, “Listen to me, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be able to stand firm. Believe in his prophets, and you will succeed.” 2 Chronicles 20:20 (NLT)

A premise that can be drawn from what King Jehoshaphat said in the verse above is that, belief in God helps one stand firm while belief in God’s prophets brings success.

As long as the Prophet is of God and you are convinced in your heart that he/she is, never let doubt rob you of the blessing that the Lord has promised you through them. Even as you go into this new week, open your heart to faith in the words spoken by the prophets of God.

Have a blessed ahead.

Shalom!

A step of faith.

‘When Isaac planted his crops that year, he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the Lord blessed him.’
Genesis 26:12(NLT)
That year in which Isaac planted and reaped a hundredfold was a year in which a severe famine had struck the land. It wasn’t the optimum condition for any farmer to sow seeds under, however, he did it, the Lord blessed him and he was extremely successful.

Friend, sincerely, it is not every time that one wants to undertake a laudable project that one gets the best of conditions. Sometimes, the projected start date might even coincide with the worst conditions ever. This should however not deter one as long as two criteria are met.

First, what is the Lord saying? If the Lord says ‘go ahead’, please obey him instead of the instinct of ‘no’. He owns the universe and he knows better than you do, so trust him with your treasure. So, you need to know what the Lord has to say concerning your project and only if you have a cordial relationship with him can you enjoy this divine consultancy. The second criterion to be met is that of having your seed ready. The seed here refers to everything you need to succeed in the mission, both physical and intellectual. If you have all these ready and the Lord has given you his approval, then you can march on,irrespective of what the physical conditions are saying. Having met the criteria, you have to step out with courage. Don’t be rooted to that spot in fear. Move! If the Lord has promised to bless the work of your hands and you refuse to proceed, please know that you are standing as a barrier to the promised blessing. If Isaac hadn’t sowed the seeds, what grains would have been multiplied? If you don’t step out in faith, what work would be blessed?

It is however important to know that any move devoid of these criteria being met is not a wise one. Don’t go out in fierce conditions without being ready and knowing what God has said. If one fails, it is due to a lack of understanding.

May the Lord bless you with the vision, courage and preparedness that you need to succeed.

I look forward to your testimony of success.
