Proverbs 13:22 says that a great man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children. In essence, a great person’s influence transcends his or her own lifetime. Even when physical death has taken such a person away, the influence of his or his existence is still felt!
Such was Abraham’s life, as this text shows:
“I will cause your descendants to become as numerous as the stars of the sky, and I will give them all these lands. And through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed. I will do this because Abraham listened to me and obeyed all my requirements, commands, decrees, and instructions.” Genesis 26:4-5 (NLT)
Please note that part that reads ‘…because Abraham listened to me and obeyed all my requirements…’
Isaac reaped the fruits of his father’s obedience to God. His father’s obedience to the Almighty was a resounding one that echoed even after he had left this world. For that, Isaac was immensely blessed, so much so, that he reaped a bumper harvest of a hundredfold during a famine(Genesis 26:12).
In your walk with God, what seeds will you sow for your children to reap?
Whatever you do, please, always keep posterity in mind- consider the potential effects of your actions and choices on your children already born or yet unborn.
Abraham sowed a seed of resounding obedience and Isaac, his son, enjoyed the Lord’s goodness for it.
Plant the best seeds that you can while you live! Leave behind a godly inheritance!
