Understanding Purpose

‘But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.’ 1 Peter 2:9 NLT

Jesus Christ came as a representation of the father. He told those who beheld him that they have seen the father, as they have seen him. He was a figure for God. So should you too. That’s purpose.

God will never create anyone who will stand to represent something greater than himself. He is the greatest and all the works of his works must glorify him: vegetation and every other feature of creation. Hence, Jesus said in Matthew 5:16, that our works must bring glory to God.

Interestingly, I discovered that even in Genesis 1:26, it is stated that man is to reflect the nature of God. Amazing! Purpose!

However, sin came in and turned the tide! Instead of man aligning with God and reflecting him, man became a model for sin, earning the wrath of God and taking in death. Man began to slide away from purpose.

Jesus came to restore the original plan. He came to restore purpose. He came to reconcile us to God(2 Corinthians 5 :18).

Without righteousness, we can’t reflect godliness. Without righteousness, we cannot fulfil his purpose for our lives. Hence, to fulfil purpose, we must perpetually remain in God.

Whenever you want to ask the question, ‘Am I fulfilling purpose?’, please ask this too, ‘Am I in God?’

Remember, you cannot be in God and still dwell in sin(James 4:4). Never. A life lived in God is devoid of inquity.

Stay in God, stay in purpose.
