The traveller’s guide.

Moving from birth to the point of mortal death is a sojourn that varies in time for various people. For some, it is long, for others, short. However long or short it is, what one does with the stretch of time available to one prompts what others will say about one when one is gone. What I’d like to share with you, friend, today is what the written ultimate guide for we travellers to eternity is.

Can you take a guess before I reveal it?

‘Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.’ Psalms 119:105 (NKJV)

That’s the answer right there! God’s word is the ultimate written guide for us. In it are instructions that will help us avoid heartaches, mistakes, accidents and stumbling blocks in our journey through life. God himself is his word and he is the light of men as seen here:

‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.’ John 1:1 (NKJV)

‘In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.’ John 1:4 (NKJV)

If you have the light of men with you, your journey will be smoother and perils will be avoided. As a matter of fact, to be prosperous on this sojourn through life, you have to meditate on this word, just as the Lord told Joshua here:

‘This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.’
Joshua 1:8 (NKJV)

That you may live that life that posterity will talk about, even after you are long gone, you have to be very conversant with the ultimate written guide for any traveller to eternity on earth. If you want to make that ground-breaking discovery in Medicine, Economics, Engineering, the Media or any discipline whatsoever, you need to make God’s word your foundational compass. Or maybe you are looking forward to having that outstanding academic career, it should interest you to know that Daniel and his three friends in Babylon were God-centred. Eventually, they outshone every other person there was in the same training exercise with them. You can do the same too. You can be the best graduating student. If you start your plan with God’s word as the foundation and discipline and timeliness as other parts of your preparation. Study and apply  more of God’s living in every facet of your life, and by faith, believe him for the best directions you could ever get.

‘In other not to arrive at a dead end, don’t travel without God’s ultimate written guide for you.’
